The time I fell down the stairs in front of strangers.
Anna's latest podcast, "I'm Doing My Best!" does not disappoint.
Well, it’s true.
My first day of college, right after my first class, I felt on top of the world. I was Mary Tyler Moore when she threw her hat up in the air, ready to receive the best life has to offer. Was there anything I couldn’t do? A single dream I couldn’t accomplish?
The stairs of the building were just two inches high, almost as if the architect was going for a more “artsy ramp” than functional stairs. In my jubilant haze, I mistook them for normal stairs and lost my footing, tumbling all the way down, sometimes rolling, sometimes skidding, like it was a Three Stooges sketch.
Emo-ish students lined the stairs on both sides, smoking, hanging out on ledges, watching it all unfold. Nothing was broken, just my pride, self-esteem and positive outlook on life. I popped up and shouted “Ta-Da!” and they all just … stared. Stunned. A bit sad for me actually. Then it got worse.
Listen to the clip of this story from my first podcast episode here.
But also, I have a new podcast! Released every Wednesday— all about the laughs for your relatable, inspirational pleasure. Basically, we’re all gonna be best friends.
It’s called, “I’m Doing My Best!” The podcast you listen to while folding laundry.
But let’s not take that too literally, you can listen to it while doing anything really, nobody bosses us around.
I’m co-hosting with my girl Amber, my sidekick/manager/hype woman when I travel speaking, and people end up liking her more than me, which is fine, I guess. This new pod is so fun and more than I can stand!
Follow us on Spotify so you never miss an episode. It’s that serious.
EP1: Have I been unfriended?
In our first episode, Amber and I talk about how ridiculously devastating it is to be unfriended and I really take “ghosters” to task. Grow up, people, you’re hurting feelings out on these streets!
Watch on YouTube or listen on Spotify (or your favorite pod host). We’ve been told watching is way more fun. We’ll let you decide!
EP2: Do we all have a calling?
In our second episode, we talk about what it means to have a calling. Does everyone have one? What is it, how do you know? Does it change, or evolve? Also, Amber makes her own dress and thought it was “stunning,” until pictures were posted from that evening. I think I laugh at her description of the dress for at least thirty minutes.
I hope you’ll subscribe, leave comments and hang with us. Soon we’ll be asking questions, and reading them on air. It’s real chill- we’re just gonna laugh until we pee a little, the way the Good Lord intended.
xx
